Importance of Likability

Do people like you?  More importantly, do your patients like you?  Do they like your office environment?  Your office staff?

It is very important that your patients like you and your office.  The reason for this is people are more likely to buy from people and places they like.  This includes where they go for their health care needs.

Don’t believe me, lets take a trip down memory lane.

Have you ever been to an establishment or business where the environment was outstanding and the people were very personable.   It was easy to like the place and the people.  Can you remember how you felt about that place?  Do you feel like you would want to go back there?  I bet the answer is yes.

Lets pick out another memory, a place you’ve been to where the environment was horrible.  Everybody in the place just felt so unfriendly and impersonable.  How do you feel about that place?  How strong is your feeling to go back there?  I bet, even if the actual product they delivered was great, you’d rather spend your money somewhere else.

Now the question is,  How Likable are You and Your Practice?


Power of Your Subconscious

When your subconscious mind has locked in a belief, you conscious mind CREATES its reality around it.  Most beliefs are created in your early years, from your judgment of the world around you.  If you didn’t have everything you want when you were young, it’s easy to believe that obtaining what you want now would be impossible.

Hey, hey, hey, hey, wrap your mind around the idea.  What idea is that?  You make up what you want before you become aware on how to get it.  You must know what you want before you can become aware of how to get it.

Do you think your attire affects your authority and credibility with you patients?  How about on the first visit?

Let me ask you a couple more questions.  Do you think you would have a different response if an individual in a police or security guard uniform told you to do something compared to a civilian dressed in normal attire? Or do you think there is any purpose behind how politician dress and what color’s they wear?

Bickman conducted some classic studies, indicating a uniform or attire would have an impact on your decision making and response depending on what may be requested of you.

Next time you get ready to go to the clinic, think about this and what type of possible psychological influence you would like to use with your patients to help them achieve their health goals and you achieve your practice goals.

What am I looking for?  What is it that I want?  What end result do I want?  This is an important role to your success and it comes from two forces.  Old time chiropracTIC understood these forces.  The center moving force, the one that move towards you.  But with the forces that move towards you there is forces moving away from you.  They leave from the center outwards.  Through these forces is how we create balance, it is the law of movement.  There is contraction and expansion, there is happiness and sadness, there is light and darkness.  Is it dark all the time?  No.  Is it light all the time?  No.  Understanding this is key to your success.

Initiate contact with the Patient make sure all have Plans and Schedules for the week. Organizations refer to this skill as being “aggressively friendly.” Be the Friendly Aggressore set up the Plan, keep it Tight, High Intensity Short Duration. Make it easy for the Patient to Follow thru with the care plan.

It means introducing yourself first. Initiate eye contact. Be first to Speak. Don’t just talk- Say Something, of course you have to have something to Offer. Like ” Lets get Disciplined after the Holiday and Focus on your Health”. Then tell a Story like, “I was at our Family ThanksGiving and my Niece had Swollen Glands and Fatigue and passing out, symptoms of a Stressed out Nervous System. So this time we don’t go to the Hospital cause Dr Fred is in town, so She gets checked and what do you think we found, Yes, C1 Subluxation, so we Adjusted her and Hey Presto she Feels Better, I mean Much better”. My, My, My Chiropractic works Again. What a Concept!

Here’s what to do. ATTACK, go out and meet someone today, anyone. Just Greet everyone you Meet. Inititate the Engagement.

Yes, the ones that you lost or the ones who did not follow your recommendations. Then here is the Question? Did you beat yourself up by asking the Great Question? What did I do wrong? Nothing, some get it and some don’t, end of story!!!

I was struggling with going to the office then…

Recently, I noticed that I was struggling with getting motivated to go to the Office.

Like on most days I had lots to do, but on this day, I was using my to-do list to push
me around and convincing myself that I did not have the Time.

I was locked up in thinking, about all I had to do and even started listening to my self-talk of how I could do it all tomorrow.

I am sure this has never happened to You, but I have noticed that occasionally when I really don’t feel like being Motivated in the Office, my self-talk can be pretty negative and lethargic.

After enduring this inner Dialog, I decided to strike a compromise and just go to the Office with an Open Mind, but speed everything up, in English it means, Like my Mom said; “DO IT NOW, RIGHT NOW!!!” . Once I arrived in the Office It was ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, I really did not feel like working but I figured a little movement would help everyone.

What happened next was totally unexpected – I kept getting more and more motivated. Suddenly I was in the midst of one of the best afternoons of the year. I found myself Focused and Committed to Serving and Beating Yesterdays Goals.

On the way home I started wondering – where did that motivation come from? Then it hit me. It came from being at the right place at the right time – the Practice. As I reflected, I realized that there were many days I did not feel like working, but if I just got to the practice, suddenly I found some inspiration. Then it hit me – being in the right place at the right time is what it’s all about.
